Bike, repair kit (for flats), elbow/knee pads, water and anything you need to be comfortable and self-sufficient. Hoping others have what you need is not a strategy. Be prepared to get acquainted with the ground. Pads are not required but are recommended.

Yes.  Please bring plenty of water and any snacks, energy bars, or other boosts you need to get through the day.  Alcohol is not permitted at any time during the class.  Don't be an idiot.

Yes, if the EPA is reporting a AQI (Air Quality Index) over 150  class will be rescheduled.  AQI Between 100-150 the session will be modified to accommodate the air quality. 

At any point if a athletes or coach  feels unsafe class will be rescheduled at no cost.

When you begin working with us you will be given access to a private MTBCornering Training Peaks connection. Once signed up you will have access to our  library of 30 minute or less drills and workout that you can do between coaching sessions.

IPads are used to provide a instant feedback loop during our coaching session. This feedback loop allows us to refine form and technique quickly so that more content can be cover in a shorter period of time.

To quantify your efforts we use timing equipment like Free Lap to measure form, line selection and speed improvements over time.

Yes, BUT not right out the gate. I teach race style jumping using portable ramps like MTB Hoppers. Race style jumping priorities distance over hight to reduce track length.

All video links will be distributed 3-5 days after each clinic/training via unpublished YouTube/GoPro link.

The land owner will issue a permit or written permission to operate. In the case of Black Mountain we have a permit from the City of San Diego.  General Liability Insurance is required to operate on City property.

Bike Trips will have minimum requires indicated in the description. If not indicated there is NO minimum. 

One-on-One's can only happen when you show up. :) 

Group Clinics only have a maximum number of athletes as indicated in the descriptions.

Group Clinics are customizable to accommodate the clients objectives. 

Additional services can be arranged: Rental mountain bikes, safety equipment and catered lunch are a few of the options available.

Bike Safety Checks for Group Classes should be performed by a Partnering Bike Shop no more than two days prior to your scheduled clinic.


One-on-one classes -  Bike checks will be performed before each class.

In accordance with USA Cycling and local authority guidelines coaching session may be canceled/ rescheduled if temperatures are outside the ranges of 50 and 85 degrees Fahrenheit.

Class Trails

Glider Port / Black Mountain Open Space Park, San Diego

Starting from the Glider Port to the base of Miner's Loop, Lilac is a great flow trail in the trees with sturdy trail features, bridge crossings and rock hops. The grade on Lilac makes it perfect for practicing flow skills, cornering on tight single track and stringing together features.

Black Widow Trail / Black Mountain Open Space Park, San Diego

Black Widow is one of the more technically challenging trails on Black Mountain, featuring strong berms, short drops and tight corners with plenty of space between each. This makes it one of the best places on the mountain  to practice intermediate to advanced  skills.

Lusardi Creek Loop Trail / Black Mountain Open Space Park, San Diego

Lusardi Creek Loop Trail is great for group clinics and offers the perfect terrain for a range of skill levels. Key features include flat corners, which are  easy to learn but hard to master, and  wide, rocky trails that teach  control in uneven conditions. 

Tiki East Backcountry, San Diego

Tiki East Backcountry is located on private land just east of Lake Hodges in San Diego and is only available to MTBCornering coaching clients. The terrain in very steep making it perfect for learning 6'+ rock drops, high speed bike/body control and technical descending.
